Poverty

Poverty,
like promiscuity,
can
pervert more than eyes can see.
Some—thing,
deeper than any—thing,
when undernourished,
Stops
simply growing
{simply saying it poorly}!
Some—how
seeds
of curiosity & creativity,
reason & rationality,
inventiveness & individuality,
remain
ungerminated
beneath layers of
superstition,
repetition,
& conformity.
What can
penetrate such perverting poverty
Save
the Light
of the World?

Oh, Paul and Darlene!
Paul's poem says so much so well!
Is there any chance I could
post a link to your blog on FaceBook, or maybe just post the
poem? I think a lot of people need
to read that, especially when we
are far removed from such abject
poverty day by day. You guys are on the front lines... thank you, thank you!
(I visited Dimmocks in Mzuzu in 1993 and have kept up with you via your blog.. and the Langdons before you) You can reach me at sarah(dot)brenner(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks and blessings!
